Heavy Metal FTW! Podcast Episode #1

Since I am going into audio recording and sound engineering as a future career, I have decided to take these new skills to a new level and create a podcast on this blog site! I am not going to do a podcast for every blog post of course, but certain posts I will do and I will post the transcript on the blog posts. The first episode is basically the review I did of Tarja's What Lies Beneath. I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you guys think of it! You can also read the original review here.

Click to listen and/or download the episode here!

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the songs! The rights of the songs used in the mp3 respectfully go to Tarja Turunen, Universal Records, Vertigo Records, and The End Records. This is for non-profit and creative fun use!
Let me know if the link does not work for whatever reason! Enjoy everyone! :D

Excellent, Eric! Podcasts are such a great idea and I think are an excellent addition to the blog! I love your Halloween-esque intro - and you have the perfect radio voice, man! Thanks for taking the time to do this!

OMG..."Naiad" is pronounced "nigh-add!" LOL!!!

The exclusion of IFI from the NA version of the album is really disappointing for me, something I totally forgot to mention in my own review (probably because I confused myself: when I was losing hope that my CD was ever going to arrive, I downloaded what obviously is the European version of the CD, which has the song on it, so when I listen to the CD in iTunes, I included it in the playlist). Hmph. I think that's a great song!

This scrobbles to Last.fm, BTW.

Eric: Maaan, you sound SO American! Haha! Some parts I found really hard to understand ... I prefer reading, it's SO much easier. You've really got a good voice, though! You could be a movie trailer voice! :D

But LOL @ pronunciation fail moments ;D

Canuck: I switched scrobbling off, I thought it was pointless to create a new "artist" for this podcast, especially considering that it's not something you listen to over and over ...

@ Almagest

Yeah my accent is very dull and uninteresting! Yep, I come right out of the flatlands of the State of Michigan! ;D

But yeah, I am sorry that I was hard to understand. I realize that I need to slow down a little bit and pronounce my words better. We in Michigan here talk too fast all the time. People in the southern United States say that we need to slow down. For the next Podcast episode, I will do a better job with my speed and pronouciation!

@ Eric: I think Almagest is referring to your pronounciations of non-English words, like the title of Tarja's 1st solo album and "Naiad."

You really do have a great radio, voice, though, and to me your accent is quite strong. I like it though. It could be, I imagine, be difficult for a non-native English speaker to understand, though.

Canuck: I meant both - there were those foreign words (I'm not blaming Eric though, I wouldn't know how to pronounce "naiad" either without looking it up specifically, and if I hadn't learnt some Finnish, I would have a really hard time trying to pronounce "henkäys ikuisuudesta", too!), but there were also some (short) parts where I totally went "Huh?". I know my listening comprehension abilities in English are not very developped, but still ...

Eric: I do think you did a better job at the new podcast, it wasn't as fast and I could easily follow your words.

You should really try to imitate a movie trailer voiceover sometime, just for fun! I bet you can make it sound just as badass as it needs to be! :D

Almagest, I did try really hard to slow down my words and it seemed to have been noticed! For sure, I was much more satisfied with my 2nd episode! Immitate a movie trailer? Interesting, maybe I will! ;D

Actually, now that I think of it, the movie trailer idea fits in neatly with it - the voiceover guys typically enounce quite emphatically and clearly, so there would even be an educational side to it! ;P
