Lucky Leak: Imaginaerum Samples!

Well, it was bound to happen: despite an embargo by the record label where no promo copies were available, parts of Nightwish's Imaginaerum have been leaked.  In fact, 12:33 minutes of Imaginaerum have been leaked, and being the weak soul that I am, I caved in and listened even though I was determined to wait for my CD to arrive in the mail (hopefully before Christmas as I have pre-ordered from Finland, but this is the Canadian postal system we're talking about).

Here it is:

Holy shit, is all I can say.  Seriously, holy shit.

Edit Wednesday Nov. 16:  well that was predictable & unsurprising: the video has been taken down by the record label, Nuclear Blast.  HMPH!  I hope some of you out there got to enjoy it before it vanished.  I know I did.

Correction: UNlucky leak! LOL... I knew it would happen though. But that was quite the listen let me tell ya while it was still there.

Apparently those samples came from the Amazon.de site, where they had 30 second samples from all the songs. Someone spliced them all together & made this video. Seems silly that NB would take down the video if the source was Amazon. It's their own fault for released the samples in the first place!

interestingly the samples aren't available on amazon.de now? I checked there and they seem to be unavailable :(

Well I do not see what the big deal is with showing fans samples of their songs! I think it is a good thing for promotion for the album anyways. It isn't like they are the full versions anyways, plus it gives people an idea of what it will sound like. I think in the modern world of downloading music and torrents, I would think that this would be good marketing because it tells your fans that our music is worth buying and that it isn't all about the bottom line after all. Unfortunately, the record labels do not see it this way.. :/

You can download the sampler as a torrent. Their is also a full version with the annoying person talking through it. (the: you're listening to the new album from, and this song is called..)
But anyway, I won't be buying it if I sounds like the sampler..

The talking you hear on that sampler is a voice over, which is common with promo copies of music. The record label includes a voice over to discourage illegal uploading/downloading before the actual CD is released. It will NOT be there on the real CD, though!

"My friend" megaupload has the 12 min somthing "song" made of all samples without the voice, which is good.
At the time, when I checked Amazon.de there were only 6 samples left due to NB action. :)
So I didn't have the opportunity to hear all samples and now having them in my PC all I can say is: I can't wait to hear "Slow, Love, Slow" and "Scaretale".

Yet, I still don't know whether to pre-order to CD or wait till dec 5th and buy it at HMV.

Lizzie, Dec. 5 is hardly much of a wait - less than a week after the Finland/Sweden release! Try having to wait till Jan. 10!!!! That's why I'm pre-ordering from Finland. I'll have it hopefully before Xmas.

I know, I know. :D I'm just concerned about the delivery. Royal Mail doesn't have my trust, TBH. But I will probably go with pre-order. When DPP was released, the pre-ordered CDs were signed by band, so it's tempting :D

Allyson said...

Oh, I totally forgot, you're in the UK now. Hm. Tough call. I would probably just go to the store if I were you and save shipping costs. I never heard anything about the CD being signed, but that would be cool.

Some people mentioned the signed CDs on NW forum so I don't know now. I just hope, people won't be so interested in Imagianerum, so I can get a copy, JK.

Any links for the torrent you can download with the voice-overs?

Allyson said...

Anon, I got mine from a friend on Facebook over email, but you can Google "Nightwish Imaginaerum torrent" and find several places its available online.

There is only a fake file with old songs, can not find te real torrent file for the voice over:/

Anonymous said...

Haha, I tried :) It's giving me torrents with spams, zip files and basically not the real deal. Can you ask your friend about it? :)

Allyson said...

they've officially released all the samples now: http://soundcloud.com/nightwishband/sets/imaginaerum/

Allyson said...

Thanks Punkkat! That's actually a pretty good set of samples, just slightly different from the ones from Amazon.de, so it's very interesting to hear other parts of the songs.
